For every distance, I took the time 3 times.

I calculate the maximum velocity Vmax i.e. Displacementmax/Tmin

I calculated the uncertainty in Velocity2 by Vmax2 – V2.

Conclusion Comments

I have a linear graph and the line passes through all the error bars. Therefore I can say that the distance travelled is directly proportional to the velocity squared. Since v²=u²+2as, and u is 0, the gradient of the line will be equal to 2a.The gradient according to the graph is a 0.2410. Hence, the acceleration is 0.1205 m/swhich is constant.

EvaluationComments

I was expecting the y intercept to be 0 since u² was 0 but it happened to be 0.02550.
The error bars are really big so I think I overestimated the errors.
Other things I guess are satisfactory.
Nevertheless, I think the experiment could have been better by:

Improvements Comments

  • Keeping the slope stable. I guess we were moving the slope in the course of the experiment
  • I took the time only 3 times for every distance. Maybe it would have been better if I had taken the time for every distance a couple of more times.
  • Not pushing the trolley. I think we pushed the truly when we released it which probably affected the velocity. We should just have let the trolley roll.
